説得力のある文章、ときいて、私たち日本人はどんな文章を思い浮かべるだろうか。

英語ライティングでは、説得の材料として挙げられるのは

ー統計

ー専門家の意見

これらを有効に使って自分の意見をサポートします。

Lesson 5で、新しいソフトの購入を上司に依頼する、というお題でメールを書きました。こんどは、その上司から返信が来た、という設定です。

Page-2-Printというソフトを買っていいか、と購入許可をしていましたが、上司は、「本当に Page-2-Printがベストチョイスなのか教えてほしい」という返事でした。

信用されていないようです…手ごわい上司です。((+_+))

Lesson 6では、説得力のある裏付け（統計・専門家の意見）を入れて、より説得力のある文章を書く練習をします。

「統計」といっても、引用するには色々・・・証明しなければなりません。

＊発行元　＊誰が収集したのか　＊適切な収集方法か　＊数値の正確性　＊数値の新鮮さ　を述べて信頼性を述べなくてはいけません。

「専門家の意見」も同様、

＊どんな専門家か　＊その専門家についてどんな人物か読み手に説明しているか　＊偏った意見ではないか　＊一貫性はあるか？

「西洋人は専門家の意見や統計の説明を期待する傾向がある」んだそうですよ！

上記は知識として置いといて・・・

いよいよ書いてみます！課題部分では「統計」も「専門家の意見」もいれずに、指示されたポイントのみをおさえて書きます。※「統計」？「裏付け」？とビックリしないで大丈夫です！

さて、上司 Rebeccaに期待通りの返信を書きましょう。

• It can edit photos and adjust brightness, contrast, and colors.　＝画像加工の機能が多い。
• It can work with Japanese, Chinese, and Korean characters.　＝日本語、中国語、韓国語の文字対応可能

As for your question, we once considered purchasing PressReady as we know it’s used worldwide; however,we have chosen “Page-2-Print”as our choice due to the following reasons.
First of all, Page-2-Print can work with Final Draft that allows us to open all the files made by Final Draft that we are curretly using. （＝Page2は今デザイン部で使用しているFinal Draftファイルが開けます。）Not only does this open Final Draft files, but also it is compatible with PressReady.This will be convenient for both us here in Japan team and there in the States when we
need to exchange our files in the future.（＝アメリカで使用しているPressReadyソフトとも相性が良い。）
Also Page-2-Print can work smoothly to import text, artwork, and photos from other software. We can even edit photos and adjust brightness, contrast, and colors. This is another reason that we have decided to purchase this software.（＝このソフトは、他ソフトで制作したデザインや画像を取り込むことが出来、デザインや画像加工などの機能も充実している。）
We can create web pages with interactive features and work with Japanese,Chinese, and Korean characters so this software will be very suitable for our foreign employees such as Chinese and Korean designers.（＝機能が多いので、ウエブページの制作もできる。＝日本語、中国語、韓国語の文字対応可能）
